Default Prices dropping on T206's ?....Check-out this one ? ?

Sure it's a nice Joe Doyle card....with a tough Sovereign 350 back....but, this final price is mind-boggling.

Gee, am I glad I completed my Sovereign set last year.

...I believe this one sold for the PSA Pop. 5's go for about $500. And a recent Sovereign SGC 50 went for just about $300 a couple of months ago:

Still, it is quite interesting to see rare commons take off at lower grades than a 7 or 8.

I saw that auction going on too and couldn't believe it. Do you think that people were mistaking it for the "N.Y. Nat'l" version?

I know that you can't mistake the card itself for that version, but do you think that some people thought that this was the rare, expensive Joe Doyle card?

One bidder at 1500, 3 more at 1750 and up...

A lot of mistakes, not just one mistaken bidder.

It's not a one time thing. I sold a Doyle PSA 6 in a private sale about six months ago for 1900. Who would think that I 'gave it away' LOL.

Regards,
Scott

Ive noticed the Doyle corrected has been commanding a good price almost in any grade. Just a tough card in my honest opinion.

"Mistake bidders".....or, "POP report bidders" ? ?

There were 9 "veteran" ebayers and 2 "newbies" driving up the price on this Joe Doyle card. I don't think that any of these
"veteran" bidders were mistaken in thinking that they were bidding on an "error" card. But, most likely were bidding high on
it because of its Low POP report number.

I will say this about this particular Joe Doyle (Sovereign 350) card, it was one of the very last cards I needed to complete
my all-Sovereign set. It is a very difficult card to find with this back. However, I still say this $$$$ figure is unreal.

great looking card. I wouldn't buy it at that price, but I by no way think the bidders were stupid. One thing I've found is that it isn't always the registry or "pop buyers" that bid up great looking cards. Sometimes it is just collectors who appreciate good-looking cards and have money. Too bad some others don't appreciate them and/or don't have the money to outbid others. But they buy what they like and/or can afford...nothing bad with that either.
