I am thinking about starting to use a sniping service and want to know if you can reccomend one for me. How do they work and what kind of fees do they charge? Thanks, I am just tired of trying to wait for the last minute and I am trying to put together a set in the 50's and don't have the time.

I use auctionstealer.com which is free unless you want the bidding to start for you at 3 seconds left in the auction. I think it is free to bid with 10 seconds left. That is what I normally do. I someone has a snipe bid in that is bigger than mine he will get it no matter what it is 10 seconds or 3. 10 seconds give pretty much anyone a hard go at it if they are not using a sniper service. My 2 cents.

Do all the sniping services require you ebay password? I hate to give that out because they can access your account information.

/Yes they do. Kind of hard for them to place a bid for you if they don't have access to your account so they can bid.

I use Bidnapper and have never had any problems with them. If you don't bid too often they offer a price per snipe deal or if you are a frequent user they have an unlimited bid service for a year priced at around $45. They also offer a neat service as part of the deal which shadows you competitors bid activity. I collect many early items that are hard to monitor on EBay but I just enter the guys who buy the same kind of things as me and it produces a report instantly outlining what items people are bidding on. It has saved me a tremendous amount of time trawling around doing various kinds of searches.

I highly recommend it!

(and you get freebees for recommending other people to join). They will bid at 5 seconds (they don't feel less is safe, and occasionally it isn't), and they like feedback and don't mind special requests. Oh, and you only pay if you win.

Which reminds me, I have to say thank you!

I use auction sniper.com but you have to be careful about placing a bid for 5 seconds or less. Twice I lost out on terrific deals because my bid did not get placed. they did give me a consolation prize of some free snipes but it doesn't replace the feeling of gloom when something goes for dirt cheap and you had the winning bidder (you thought) crushed with a strong snipe bid. Auction sniper.com recommended to me that I go with the 10 second snipe and I have but once in a while that snipe bid gets placed even more than 10 seconds before finality. The service is otherwise very reliable and their web site is user friendly.
