Wow!!! Yes at least a couple of someone's really want that card. CJ's both '14 and '15 are coming few and far between than in years past especially mid to high grade. When they do come it is usually at a significant premium than what the card last sold for. I was only able to acquire a handful for my set this year. Hopefully 2024 will yield a few more.

The last PSA 4 ‘14 CJ Alexander sold in Heritage last year for $11,400
This one has already exceeded that number

I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m completely priced out of this market.
Whatever is in my collection is what will remain unless I start collecting ungraded album cards from the ‘60.
It’s hard for me to even think of paying 2500% of what I paid just 10 years ago. My salary hasn’t risen 35% let alone 2500%.

Tony, Did you see this Cracker Jack that closed a earlier this month?

It was a SGC 2 Honus Wagner that closed at $13,821. The previous sale before this one sold for $4500 just 2 years ago.

It seems all the Cracker Jack cards are rocketing up especially the key cards.

My slabbed Cracker Jack of Heinie Wagner is also unlikely to add to his circle of friends anytime soon, due to price increases in both lumber and shellac.

lol - that is an awesome relic Brian!!! Makes me wonder how there are even any of these left in good condition. It would be cool to know why the cards we hold were kept, what were the original owners thinking in regards to keeping them.

Count me suspicious whether that card is natural.

You are absolutely correct! Jason Glasser upgraded his card last year and ended up selling his PSA 4 through Memory Lane in May.

Yes I did! There was a '14 Crawford in the same auction that hit over $10k!
All CJ's are skyrocketing however the HOFers are hitting astronomical prices!

It is as natural as the day it was shellacked.

Or perhaps you are referring to the Alexander in the first post?

I always imagined my Heinie Wagner was preserved as part of a scout project.

What do you predict the CJ PSA 8 Grover Cleveland Alexander card will sell for when this auction is completed? This is insane!

I have to admit I don't like the look of the borders on the Alexander. Because of this, I will not be selling my Wagner, which would have allowed me to pursue this card.

That, it looks narrow, and the corners look unnaturally sharp. Just my opinion from a scan.

If you think those edges and corners are from 1915, I've got a screaming deal for you on a bridge in Brooklyn.

1915 CJ was also available as a complete set, so the grading distribution is funky. There are more 8s than any other grade.

I agree with Peter about the initially posted Alexander.

It is a great looking card. Absolutely awesome.

But looking at where the inner slab edges are, it looks slightly narrow, as Peter says. And; the top margin is bigger than at the bottom...

Look at the margins of that initial Alexander, study them for a few seconds, then look at Tony's Alexander with a 4 grade. Bigger margins all around, and with better vertical centering. And it looks real, more believable. Genuine. I think if I was going to be gifted one and I knew I'd be selling it to keep the cash, of course I'd pick the PSA 8. But if I was gifted one and I knew I'd be keeping it, I'd rather have that 4.

the 8 is indubitably altered. that lower left corner could kill.

My 1915 WAJO was removed from a period album...indubitably...not altered.
