Look at this ridiculous ad! These seem to be posted more frequently as time roles on. I mean after he sells this junk, his attorney will be paid for one hour of work. Doesn't anyone have a wife that might want to split the cards? LOL

I doubt seriously the guy is getting a divorce. About a year ago, there was a guy, errr, woman, errr guy, oh who knows, that kept claiming hubby was int he hospital and they needed money for the bills. The M.O. was always the same, some sob story and dutch auctions with tons of crap that might pay for a days worth of food and that's it.

Bob drove me to the Cow Palace yesterday, hung around and talked to Terry Knouse untill his allergies forced him outside. I bought an SGC 60 Connor, a ditto Standard Biscuit Jackson, an Old Judge Mickey Welch, which someone thoughtfully wrote his won-lost record all over the back of, and a slightly battered N28 Keefe. When Bob saw the cards, al he wanted to know was how much I'd spent. I told him half--which was true! Terry took a check for half, and I'll pay off the rest slowly (we need a new car).

All cards mean to someone who isn't interested in them is $$$. The only card Bob ever liked was a Goodwin Round Album Kelly. "Gee, that's a beautiful card," he said. Kelly being arguably the handsomest man in the last 150 years to be photographed, lithographed or woodcut (possible competition: Matty in high school), he even grabs the attention of non-card lovers.

She has many great qualities; a love of my hobby is not one of them. I believe the term "card geek" has been applied to me quite often in my household. Still, she respects the fact that I love collecting and she has not pressured me to sell off my prizes, so I can't complaint. Now that the market tanked, she is learning to appreciate the hedging value of the cards, if not their inherent beauty and the fascination they hold for me.

My wife finally just quit asking about most cards etc.....she figured she wasn't going to stop me anyway. When I put a few high end cards up on ebay she saw that I could actually "save" money this way....well, sort of But mostly I just don't tell her anymore.....regards all

I've been married 32 years next month and the little woman tolerates my obsessive hobby (although I pale in comparison to some of you fanatics on this board
). She will look at a card every now and then and smile at how goofy looking or scarey the guy was, but that's it. I used to tell her of how I made such great deals and plowed the money back in to more cards and more good deals, but since the market went south, and since the "good deals" are harder and harder to find, I usually just open the packages, look them over, open the safe, slide them in to the archival pocket pages, close the safe and go on. No mention to the wifey anymore...

4.5K. Terry had it on consignment, so i doubt that he had much wiggle room as far as changing the price was concerned.

Julie---Was the Jackson the Sporting News size card or the Collins McCarthy size card? They both have Standard Biscuit Jacksons.
