Default Lenox-Brown vs. Black

Posted By: Robert

I have yet to see either one of the Lenox type backs and was wondering if someone has scans they can post for me and everybody else to view. Are if they the same with the only difference being color, would it not be easy to think that the it could be a black Lenox that has faded to look more like brown. Thanks ahead of time just wanted to visually see the difference.

i have a black lennox...never owned a brown. there was one on ebay somewhat recently and it was fairly obvious that it was brown and not faded black. i've seen maybe 2 for sale in the last year...definitely an advanced back...possibly rarer that bl 460.

I was a little apprehensive about the brown lenox until I held one in my hand. Now I have absolutely no doubt. Same with the brown old mills.
It was a different color printed.

The brown is very reddish, but definately a different color than the black. You can see the scan of the brown lenox jordan vs. black lenox marquard.

The link provided for the EBAY auction almost looks like the other Lenox is not brown but more like a deep red or maroon. I sthat the case or is it just a bad scan to see.

Wow a Brown Lenox on one of the most colorful T206 cards in the set! Nice combination.

Robert,
It was a fairly bad scan. It did well to show the distinct difference between the two, but the brown lenox is more like the brown hindu than a red color.

The scan is very good and high quality. The actual color of my brown lenox was very reddish in color. The scan represents very close to actual color.

Let me rephrase.
The scan is obviously nice and clear, but I figured it misrepresented the color a bit. The brown lenox back that I am familiar was not the same hue.

For those believers that there is such thing as a "brown" Lenox -
Why would a printing company go to the trouble of mixing dyes for brown;
a color that not only is drab but not much different from the original
black???????????

My Donlin/Lenox is black, but with a little fading....

They sure look different to me. It is just ink I don't think it would be a big deal to change colors or they could have run out of brown or black and switched colors. UPS has done OK with "what can brown do for you?"
