Default Take a penny, leave a penny (ver 1.1)

Posted By: John

Why do all the good threads die young?

One of the best posts I ever saw here. I found it 3 pages back covered in dust and with little boxes with x’s in them. I mourn the loss of this post so here’s my attempt to bring it back to its former glory.

So lets see if we can get this thing rolling again. Remember this is the same famous “Take a Penny Leave a Penny” collecting system that Ben sells on TV for three easy payments of $69.95.

So try it now for free that’s a savings of over $200 dollars!

Here Are the Rules:

Fisherboy7 (Ben) writes:

I was rooting through my collection and came up with an extra T205 Shean.

It is free to anyone who wants it.

The catch is that in order to claim this card, you must post in this thread, and that post must contain a pre-1920 card of your own that is up for grabs, for anyone to claim. Doesn't have to be anything special, but it can't be crap either. Claims should probably be limited to one per person, at least for now I think.

Make sure to include your email is added in your post, so you the person that claims your card can send you their postage address. I don't know if this is gonna catch on at all, but I thought it might be good way to hook people up with a new card that they want.

Good collecting karma to all!

A few testimonials from the past contributors and takers:

Vintagecatcher (Pat) writes:
Just received my beautiful T210 Laughlin Old Mill card from Dave. Thanks so much. Not only is it a great catcher card for my Minor League catcher type card collection, but it also happens to be my sister's last name by marriage. Bonus! So many thanks to Dave Whipple for making it available and to Ben for starting this cool thread. A great way to get a new card and pass on a duplicate issue for someone else to enjoy. Old time collecting at it's best!

Adambaxter (Adam) writes:
Thanks Ben
I got my Zeenut Bassler and I'm thrilled with it. Here's hoping others won't forget this great thread!

T206guy (Dave) writes:
Just got Ben's card that started this thread, thanks, Ben.
I really love this.
Dave

Well since no one claimed Adam’s T206 Bliss I have the right to take that nice card. But to make things even spicier if the card is still available from Adam I’ll leave Adam's T206 and my T205 Sheckard. So help yourself...Just remember to take a penny you have to leave a...you get the idea.

That's a great point Jay, I had thought of that after I posted so at the risk of being yelled at by Ben.

NEW RULES ANY CARDS PRE (1941) ARE WELCOME.

you might want to expand this from just pre-1920 cards to anything pre-WW2. Not everyone here collects cards from that era and it will give everyone a chance to get involved. Also, I am sure many, like myself, have little or no trade from that era.

Jay

I saw weird stuff in that place last night. Wierd, strange, sick, twisted, eerie, godless, evil stuff. And I want in.
