Default Help IDing/Dating a bat

Found this bat yesterday at a flea market. I'm not really sure what I have here. It's 35" long and weighs about 42 oz. It looks to be homemade but does have a lathe mark on the handle end. Any info would be great.

Default bat I.D.

Based on the knob, the taper of the bat and the flat barrel end, I'd date the bat from the mid 1880's to perhaps 1890.

Thanks for the info, John

I'm a vintage glove collector and I try not to stray, but when I saw this bat I thought it was something special. I don't plan on keeping it and was wondering what the value is on a bat of this age in this condition?
