Mantle Signatures

Ok so I have studied his signature a lot this past week but I know time is the key to everything and it will take me time to really get accustomed. Attached are the 3 books I have been using.

Anyways.

I would appreciate some expert help here as I can pick these both up at a reasonable price. They come with no COA obviously but were "signed in person" at shows.

The ball scares me as the Loop on the M is a bit shaky

The photo looks good. I have added photos. Please let me know.

Ball looks bad to me

Photo looks better, but the way the "M" connects to the "a" in "Mantle" is very irregular for Mantle. I'd be careful...

I am no expert in autographs, and stay away from them as a result. But I do have a story to share about 2 autographs I have in my collection. When I lived in Kansas City in the early 1980s, there was a card show every year which featured a big hall of fame member. One of the first ones was Mickey Mantle who had been my childhood idol. The line was unbelievable and many were turned away. I was one of the lucky ones who finally got to receive my autograph. The Mick was at the table with a stack of sharpies and a can of beer. Hank Bauer sat next to him (also drinking), and the two of them talked. Mantle signed your item but never acknowledged your were there. Even when you thanked him, he just talked to Bauer or got another beer out of the cooler behind him. I was glad my son was too young to accompany me. Joe DiMaggio was sometime after Mantle and oh what a difference. He wore a suit and tie, thanked every single person and would shake your hand if you offered. These were two experiences I have never forgotten.

Your Mantle story sounds like my Willie Mays story. And your DiMaggio story sounds like my Don Drysdale story.

To this day I wonder why the Giants bother bringing Mays anywhere....so often the story is the same.

A friend has a Mantle that's definitely real, has a pic of him signing it for him, etc.

The handwriting is shaky...it was later in Mick's life, I think he died the next year.

So MAYBE the ball's real, and just a late one? I wouldn't believe my buddy's was real if he didnt have the photo.
