Default Hilarious fake Cobb on eBay

This one hits all the key elements in the description: grandfather, attic, "no idea if this is real or not". Yet it's the most hilariously obvious fake I've seen in a while: red Old Mill back, wrong font on the front, beaten up to look old. It's like the fakers aren't even trying any more. Yet it looks like some sucker is willing to pay $61 for it as I write this.

I saw that last week....
I'm BRAND new to the hobby and after reading the description a few red flags flew up in my judgement...

You can just about sale anything on eBay.

Default Break my fakey heart

It does have an off-center back that the collectors of fake T206 oddities will scramble after.

Not only that, but it is also an elusive red Old Mill!

Amazing how many times guys selling cards like this have so little feedback. I laugh at this stuff, particularly the usual comment about grandpa and the attic or whatever, but i do feel sorry for people who pay bucks for this crap.

Send it to SGC it's the rare red back old mill. They already authenticated a blue back old mill so why not.

See, you are a better man than me.
I do NOT feel one bit sorry for people that bid that high (right now it's at $101).
If you are going to spend $100 on a card, then you better damn we'll have done your research on it to make sure it is real.

Default Authenticity Disclaimers?

Does ebay enforce its authenticity disclaimer policy?

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/...sclaimers.html

Seems like a listing violation to me.

I just sent the seller with a enormous 4 feedback this:

"I can assure that this card is NOT genuine. At no point or time did Old Mill ever produce a back with Red text. Also the front font Detroit and Cobb are well off the mark in all CAPS. No differentiation between size of the front font as well. Congrats on whomever you've suckered with this thus far. "

no need to give back story if don't know if real.....anytime theres a long back story I go 'next'..

how come back story cant be like: I hear people on ebay try to get steals of a lifetime and will bid on almost anything. I have not had this card verified by a real expert so I will say I don't know if its real. I never tried to get it authenticated or looked to see if the back combination or font is something that occurs for the card. I did zero research because if I did I wouldn't be able to say I don't know if its real. I have sand in front of me at the house that I stick my head in it when I listed this card.

Happy bidding, remember its 99 cent auction for reason
