Type 1 photo top left which was used in the Sporting Life Paper and the 1914 E&S postcard. Very cool and confident image of Ty, one of MLB's all time great hitters!

Congrats JC. I was wondering who won that PC. You got it for a steal. Sad that the “experts” couldn’t confirm that it’s Cobb when it’s plain as day to me. The undivided PC back makes it his earliest card, IMHO.

Let me know if you’d like a nicer scan (front and back). I have them saved on my Pc.

Mike, this is the 1908 version of the Cobb card. As you can see, there are a few versions of this card as well (based on the placement and font of the "Cobb").

Jeff: that's my point, all the ones I have seen have his name "Cobb" outside the shadow, like the one you shown . Do you have one "in the shadow " ?

Hmmmm....I don't know that I've ever looked that closely at these. I actually think there are three versions of this card if I recall correctly.

What is the postmark on the Seamless Steel Tubes PC ? On the postcard it states that he is 21 years old, he would be 21 on Dec 18,1907. Thanks

October 1907. All known Seamless Cobb's that have been postmarked are from October 07 I believe. Seamless Steel Tube Co must have just decided he was close enough to 21 at time of production.

I think your Seamless is one of my favorite pieces in the hobby. I love it more that he apologizes for writing on an advertising card.

I know, I know. I actually have a nice scanner - it took me 3 years to buy one, another 6 months for my kid to install and hook it up, and it wil probably be another year before I start using it. I do not embrace technology at all.

Kevin, that fielding Cobb totally kicks ass. I hope I own one of those someday- total treasure.

Scott, you can never have everything when it comes to Cobb!

Jeff P - Those items need to be in Cooperstown. Great letter and Tubes auto'd PC.

Jeff L - Well played on that RPPC from Christies and a great action shot of Cobb.

Jason - Super impressive eye candy and even more amazing, they are all centered!!!

Kevin - Thanks for posting the Dietsches all together, as we all all visual creatures of collecting.

Since this thread has turned into a badass Cobb thread, Ill add this one of the Hubel Hotel known as Cobbzilla.

Default My kind of thread!

How did I overlook this thread for so many years...

Here are my Cobbs. I focus on eye appeal over grade. And I’m coveting a Wolverine Portrait and/or a Novelty Cutlery.

Sorry I’m a crappy photographer. I’ve also got a M116 Blue background, 2 1914 Polo Grounds, a Brunner’s Bread, a Rogers Peet, and a 1922 W575-2 that I can’t seem to upload.
