Default !915 Babe & a few teammates...

This original vintage photo is from a rain-out during the 1915 World Series. These Sox players spent the afternoon at a newspaper's photo dept going through photographs of themselves. What a thrill that must have been!

The Red Sox have had some really tragic deaths. Most of us are familiar with The Golden Greek.

Then there was the tragic death of Ed Morris, who was stabbed to death at a picnic held in his honor.

Finally, poor Gordon McNaughton, who might still be with us if not for a violation of the seventh commandment:

This should go over big with Sox fans. (He even writes about "No, No, Nanette.")

Of course, this is as much a Boston Americans piece as it is a NY Americans--scorecard for Chesbro's "wild pitch" game:

David,

It's even more irritating that the confounded letter is dated 1927. Please burn it immediately. ;-)

Default a few more...

This 1938 card was bought as a companion piece to display with the exceedingly rare '38 "heads up" wrapper. I decided on Foxx because I felt he gave me the biggest bang for my buck. And. it didn't hurt that he became the first three-time winner of the MVP in that year as well.

Default Duffy

I can't wait to see Rawn's items. I am sure there will be some "Rough" items. This is one of my favorite items, a tribute to Duffy Lewis in 1947. He started the left field tradition (Duffy's Cliff) in Red Sox lore before the Kid and Yaz and Rice.

Really neat Duffy Lewis tribute.

Edited to add: One of the downsides of being a Yankees fan (which I am not, in particular) is that you are compelled to hate the Red Sox. How could anybody hate the Red Sox? It's like hating Thomas Jefferson or chocolate chip cookies or Miss September. It's un-American.

Here you go Rawn. It's helping me towards the Boston AL Subset but I have a feeling it will be back at your house (where it belongs) sometime in the future. Down to needing 4 of the 15. Arrelanes, Niles, Stahl and Lindaman left.

David: Nice C-M Duffy. If you ever feel the need to part with it, look me up.

Also had to throw in the 67 Red Sox stickers. My favorite set as a 6-7 year old kid just getting into cards. Who knew it would be a life long habit.

And this Ted Williams piece is one of my favorites. Its big and heavy and has a really cool "deco" look to it.

Thank Mike, I really miss that, but I'm in the Arizona desert and I miss a lot of things. I'll be looking for a replacement at the end of July and I'll make someone a very healthy profit.

Default Williams & Mantle battle it out for the batting title...

With just a couple of weeks left in the 1956 season, Ted Williams was leading Mickey Mantle for the batting title. The Mick got hot, the Splinter went cold, and the "Commerce Comet" won the Triple Crown! As they say, the rest is history. Vintage Original TYPE I photograph...
