Default allen and ginter help

I bought a n28 clarkson off ebay. The card looks and smells real. It has a shinny surface that scares me and blakc printing on the reverse. Is this a fake or reprint?

my annie oakley is not so shinny and the reverse is blue lettering

any help with this would be appreciated

Toby- They only come with blue lettering. It's a fake.

Sounds like a modern reprint. The authentic cards are lithographs on thicker brittle card stock with a dull surface. The backs are printed in blue.

another easy way to authenticate a&g cards is to view the card with oblique lighting..the ink should look like it is layered on top of the card, the colors may even appear layered atop each other. There will NOT be a uniform shiny gloss on real ones, although certain colors may appear to be more glossy than others.

I believe David Rudd's book or web-site describes this better than I along with other facets and distinguishing tell-tales of stone lithography

The seller has a 99.9% feedback, good chance you'll get a refund. By the way, an original Clarkson for under a hundred bucks? Usually that doesn't happen too often.
