Thanks. This one was really clean for the grade, so I went for it.

Purchased at local show today 1968 Topps poster “top of wax box” box topper. There is a PSA graded A example on eBay $1099 OBO?

Nice pickup Mike. Hey, do you have an Earl Wilson? I know he's not hard to find, depending on what you want it on, but I've noticed there are two distinct styles from him. One a little more clear and first/last name seperated, and a much more hurried style (although nice). Do you know when his sig changed, or is one actually no-good. Would like to start a 68 Tiger team after I'm done with a couple others and wanted to get a head start on getting my facts straight.

Two-card mid-week mail day: The Mantle is in lower technical grade with a few light wrinkles, but is centered nicely and presents great with a sharp image and virtually no print defects. My favorite Mick from the ‘60s - I had a version of this card as a kid that was almost totally destroyed; it was waterlogged in a top loader and would have disintegrated if you had attempted to take it out.

The Brett isn’t perfect, but is about dead nuts centered and is an upgrade over my raw one.

Happy Wednesday!

I think that Brett is great. A George Brett rookie card was one of the first cards I bought when I got out of college and had my first "real job" because I always wanted one as a kid. But it was out of my league as a kid in the 80's (pretty much any card over $10 was out of my league then).

The one I bought is definitely in worse condition than yours...maybe I'll upgrade some day. But I still love it.

Thanks. I have similar memories - started collecting in the late 80's, and knew about the Brett card - but it was nothing I was going to ever be able to afford then. I never owned one at all actually until earlier this year - I'm 42, LOL.

I, too, used my ebay bucks to help grab up some cardboard, these two PSA 9 green tints...

1962miller155craig183GTs.jpg

This pair of cards was obviously graded before PSA started putting "Green Tint" on the slabs, but there is only one 'official' GT PSA 9 Craig in the pop report. And in looking at the history of sales, I only found one 'regular' PSA 9 that was actually a greenie...and it was sold back in 2008. A ridiculously tough card to find.

Nice cards. The one green tint I know I have at home is a real greenie...because it's Dallas Green. (green smiley)

Default I don't believe this to be a 1958 item in the least, but it's a new Campy

Picked this up recently. Don't care that the card got a 1, just happy that the centering is decent, and happy with the auto grade (purple dot isn't on the card, it's a camera artifact).

The most recent addition to the HOF Rookie collection. Welcome home Sir Rodney. Also cool that he arrived on Yom Kippur (Oct 8).

I have to laugh. The card is autographed, but is labeled as 'MK.' You almost have to yell, "I know it's marked. It has an autograph on it!!!" Perhaps it should have been labeled with the new 'MKYWKTAIIAMKBTAPOTC' qualifier:
"Marked. Yes, we know the autograph itself is a 'mark,' but there's also pencil on the card."

LOL, I thought the same thing tbh. It's got the "7" on the front, and thin diagonal pencil line on the back.

Have decided to build a 1975 (year I was born) Topps set. Got my first lot in today. Got a lot of just over 400 different with stars in Ex-Mt to NM condition for $65.

Upon looking at a few (I'm at work, so can't go through and check them all out until I get home), centering on the back seems to be the biggest problem. But I'm happy so far.

Will be looking to buy 2-3 more lots of around 200-300 each and then build the set and put them into pages and a notebook, both of which I still have to buy. Will sell/trade any extras and maybe do a 1974 Topps set next. Here's the start though to my 1975 Topps set:

Emily,

I love the 75 set and it was the first set I started to build when I got back into collecting 20 years ago. The Brett is one of my favorite all time cards. Nice choice.

A sharp later-years Mickey for the day after his birthday.

This card / Topps is sometimes criticized for the picture used - lack of action shot / “he’s hungover” / that kind of thing. Personally I’ve never thought that. It’s an honest aw-schucks Mantle grin, and yes so what he’s a little more jowly at 35 than he was in his 1950’s Topps issues. To their credit, Topps had used action or batting poses for The Mick since 1964, so they probably figured it was time for a good portrait. Besides that, I love the blue background and the large “NY” on his cap. This is certainly no Panini issue...
