This may be considered high grade to some. One of my fave cards of the Mick, for some reason. I also get a kick out of the somewhat homoerotic cartoon on the back.

Default Not really a card...

...but thicker than a sheet of paper. Got it from him at the private reception of his sports restaurant on the eve of the public opening, back in the
80s.

lolllll!!!! I think I will spend a bit more time here for the next while!!!

Well actually I have just purchased 10 PSA 8 graded Mantle cards (mostly cards from the 60's so far) and want to build a set in that grade (and ALL will be PSA...I believe in PSA for post war cards) except for of course the 52 Topps and 51 Bowman. I am happy with the 52 Topps I have in PSA 4 and will not be up grading in the future. It looks like a 5 so why bother. And as far as the 51 Bowman one in PSA 5 would be just fine with me!!!

Now that I know there are some very rare Mantle cards like the 1 the guy posted here with only 2 known I now know I will never have a complete Mantle set....but I am OK with that.

I was going to start buying Babe Ruth cards but just can't seem to pull the trigger and get little satisfaction from him. Mantle is the icon of baseball I truly enjoy collecting....and much much cheaper than buying PSA 8 Ruth cards.

Even if graded PSA 8 the cards I am buying have to have 50/50 centering or very very close to that....otherwise I will pass and simply wait for one to show up.

Don't get me wrong Ruth was a legendary player just find most of his cards dull looking!!!

So my collecting will be limited to Mantle cards and T206 cards (the rarer ones and the elite pitchers in action poses). I know I will buy a Ruth rookie (graded a 1 or 2 maximum) some time in the next year but that will be all for me and Ruth.

From their cold dead hands Adrian

David---Topps 1961 Dice cards. An unissued test set. Only 2 or 3 copies of each card thought to exist. There is a checklist in SCD. I only have one, a Kaline.

Along with 55 Stamps, 66 Punch Outs 70 Cloth, and 71 Rookie Artist Proofs, the toughest Topps test issues to collect...IMO

Great cards all! I was noticing how nicely Mick "pops" from the dark background on those high grade '57's. I have not been a big fan of that set in the past, but those two 8's posted earlier are amazing. This post may have added the '57 to my wish list!

Dan Dees are prone to grease because they came in cans of potato chips and the bazooka was hand cut off a box. So any dan dee without stains is scarce and any 59 bazooka with a numerical grade (most are authentic) is tuff. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Dave.

ps Al that 61 dice Mr. Tiger is waaaay cool

Default Not very high grade, but high eye appeal.

...To me, at least. Can't wait to get a new scanner; these were taken on an ancient HP all-in-one.

Agree wholeheartedly -- that Post is a really nice piece! Really like the expression on his face, the pose, the pink background, the vintage facsimile Mick signature, and even the wooden frame border. It has it all. Very cool!

Can't afford high grade Mantles so I have to settle for some lousy mid-grade ones:
