Default Pete Alonso

Is it to early to grab a Pete Alonso signed ball while they are cheap. I know its early, but he seems like he may be the real deal. I had read somewhere (don't remember where)….he signed a deal with Fantics for autographed memorabilia...does this make it so he doesn't do signing shows?

No it just makes it so that if he does shows they will be more expensive. If you believe a prospect is the real deal then buy early. I did the same with Trout years ago. Thankfully I was right, and you may be too!

The Mets are selling Pete Alonso autographed baseballs in their Amazin' Memorabilia store at Citi Field for $150.

In addition to the MLB authentication hologram, the balls also have a Fanatics hologram. That surprised me, because even though he did sign with Fanatics, I'd presume any signed material with a MLB hologram would have been done under MLB supervision and direction, without Fanatics involvement - so no Fanatics hologram would be needed.

Is it possible that the presence of a Fanatics hologram on an MLB-authenticated item would be a contractual requirement?

any company that conducts a signing with an MLB player typically also adds their hologram. It just confirms that the item was double witnessed and gives it a chain of custody and extra layer of verification.

Here's a photo I took of Alonso signed baseballs being sold by the Mets at Citi Field. Each ball is signed but I positioned them differently so you could get an idea of where the holograms are located.

As you can see, the Fanatics hologram is above the Rawlings logo, and the MLB hologram is above the MLB logo.

Fun fact: the MLB Authentication Database identifies the ball in the middle as follows:
Item: Autographed Baseball
Hologram number JB739447
Event: Pete Alonso - Fanatics
Date: May 09, 2019
Autographer: Pete Alonso
