Default Braves 2014 Hall of Fame signed poster

I'm not generally an autograph collector, but I thought I'd post this for Braves fans who might like to see it.

This poster was given out to fans at Turner Field on Hall of Fame induction Sunday (July 27). Fans who entered the park early received the poster and were able to watch the Hall of Fame ceremony on the jumbo video board.

About 30 of the posters were later signed in the clubhouse by the three inductees when they came to Turner Field for a special event two weeks after the Cooperstown weekend. I was fortunate to get one and will now get it framed for my office. It measures 19-1/2 x 26-3/4 inches.

Default The perfect game

Well my collecting activity has really slowed down this summer.
But opportunity knocked on the door as I was blessed with my second September 9, 1965 Koufax perfect game ticket this year.

This example came from a card shop in the LA area who acquired it from the original owner. I'm partial to this example because it has writing - notating the event much like a fan who fills out a scorecard.

I can tell the person who attended this game was excited and cherished the fact they got to witness Koufax's perfect game. Ticket was loved and that's what collecting is all about.

This one was like pulling teeth as I had it on my radar for over a year while it sat in Andy Imperato's stash. Patience paid off for me.
A 1 of 1 according to any population reports.
Attendance was in the 9,000 range according to the Baseball Encyclopedia making this a fairly rare stub.

May 22, 1963 represents one of Mickey Mantle's most talked about home runs of his career. On his own account it was the "hardest hit ball" he's ever felt. Many websites and news articles put this in the top 10 farthest hit HR's in MLB history. Folklore says the ball could have gone 734ft if it had not hit the facade at Yankee Stadium. The only man to hit the facade (Mantle did it twice).

Great image with period equipment. Player on far left middle row has "Chicago" across chest while player center front has "K.C." on chest. Any explanation as to why 2 different teams would be photographed together? Perhaps an "All-Star like" team??

Likely a town team with hand-me-down jerseys. Many times they would play in whatever baseball gear they could get their hands on.

That makes sense as the other players dont necessarily match either.

Here is another bit of silliness for my 1971 Pirate collection. I don't know if its the Cancun sun, too many Cuba Libres, or their combined 4,437 career hits and 422 HRs but I saw this MLB début stub of Richie Hebner and Al Oliver on eBay and had to have it.

2014 Giancarlo Stanton game worn pair of pants. Pants show TONS of use, ripped on back from sliding, several team repairs. Only the second pair of pants so far this year. Probably worn for many home runs.

Default Armando Galarraga "Almost Perfect" 2010 locker tag

I just added a terrific pickup to my Armando Galarraga "Almost Perfect" ensemble. Here is Galarraga's actual 2010 locker tag to compliment umpire Jim Joyce's signed game-used locker tag that I own from Galarraga's near brush with greatness on 6/2/2010.

I have previously shared the story of how I e-mailed Commissioner of Baseball Bud Selig following this game. The shocking part is that he took the time to write me a letter back that I subsequently had Galarraga, Jim Joyce and Jim Leland sign at different times.

Great items! I especially like the Almendares photo and the early baseballs.

The White Plains show was really good for my hall of fame collection as I needed both Carey and Robinson. The Carrigan/Stahl and Carrigan/Lannin were too nice to pass up.

Randall great addition to your already impressive big Mac collection. Do you have the Tacoma jersey as well? I spent a lot of time watching him there.

Picked up these two PCL baseballs yesterday. They each have a small amount of writing on them - one has a printed name and the other possibly a signature, both illegible.

Kind of a boring pickup, but all I can boast about as of late.

Scott, I believe the printed name is Roy Jackson, who was Prez of the league between 1974-78. That at least dates the ball, if that's in fact what it says.

Thanks Mike, I know you got a great rookie HR ball of his! This Modesto jersey is only the second jersey of his I own actually. I don't think I have ever seen his Tacoma jersey. I have seen his Huntsville one though. I recently made a great connection and hope to be adding some more really cool stuff to my collection in the future!

Two cabinets I picked up at the National this year.

One is from Cuba, the other is from Celina, Ohio - a man named John Heidering is in the photo somewhere:

Spent too much at the Mariners game today.

Had a great time watching today's game with Luke and Mike, except for the part where the Rangers beat the living sh*t out of us.

Bought a game-used turn-back-the-clock Astros uni on the cheap, including the cap - everything fit perfect! Also stood in line for 3 innings to get the 1st shot at today's game-used balls, and picked up one that Cano hit for a double, Kendrys hit for a double, and they finally pulled it after a pitch to Seager in the dirt. Also got the line-up card from my birthday, and finally, a 1920's glove at my favorite antique shop prior to the game.

Here's me in full uni, fielding Cano's hit ball with the 1920's glove.

I realize that I look like a dork, but that's the point of wearing a 1970's Astros uniform!
