Default 1953 Stahl Meyer high grade advice/question??

I have a HIGH GRADE (PSA 7) 1953 Stahl Meyer common. As everyone knows, this is a very valuable, but thinly traded issue. If you were me, would you sell the card on Ebay or consign it to one of the big Auction Houses?? Any advice is appreciated....

If you know what you want for it list it here first. It is thinly traded but my guess is that most collectors watch ebay as well. You could list it with a reserve and if it doesn;t sell you could then send it to an auction house.

Given all of your previous, numerous posts that lament how your cards sell for pennies on the dollar on eBay, I'm surprised you'd even ask such a question. Plus, I think I read at least twice on the board that you said you're "done" with eBay.

I wouldn't sell it myself....I would consign it to PWCC (Brent Hugiens)....he seems to have a nice little following and gets above average prices for his consignors......

To answer HRBakers question? I dunno.....I was thinking $400........

Default Presuming........

your talking about Whitey Lockman - he has an abnormally high number of graded copies including 2-7's and 4-8's. Every other card in the set has only a single or 2 (2 cards) graded at a 7 or higher. I think $400 might be a bit ambitious, but give Brett a try - I agree he seems to do well for his consignors. How much does he charge?

You could try Just Collect's new 0% consignment deal for $60 to see if you could get $400.

Brett charges a percentage based upon the final sell price of the card. I thought about Just Collect, but to justify the $60 fee, the card really needs to be $2,000 and up. I don't want to pay roughly $60 for a card I am only looking to get $300-$400 for......the percentage is just too high

I just got my consignment check from Brett's last auction, and while most of the cards were down from what I paid, I was pleased with his professionalism and the way he presented my items.
