I haven't had a Goudey in a long time so could be wrong, but I'll be game and pick real just going by how the printing looks in the pictures.

It looks a lot like mine, so I'm hoping it's real.

Brand New Seller with -0- feedback obviously knows the importance of the card as min bid is $1085 - So why wouldn't this one (which looks 5ish to me) be slabbed? This would put min bid somewhere around the 3K mark? Goin with the "If it looks too good be true" adage.

The card pictured looks real to me. But we shouldn't assume that he actually has this card. There's a million pictures of Gehrig's Goudey cards out there. He could have just grabbed a few pictures, and posted them here.

Some red flags for me, too.

-Zero feedback
-No returns accepted

No way I would even consider bidding until I had pictures of him holding the card, or a picture with something identifying his Ebay ID in the picture.

The card looks good to me, as does the Ruth card that he had. The zero feedback is definitely concerning. The no returns is a little concerning, but you can always file a SNAD ebay case. However, if you look at the seller's sold listings as well as his current ones, they are a mixture of 1933 Goudey's (currently low numbers) with commons as well as HOFers. To me, that gives an added air of authenticity to these cards. I put in a low ball bid on the Ruth card, but got outgunned, but the winner probably still got a good deal the card. There is still risk as the others have said in that this is a zero feedback seller. You don't know what may happen, e.g., different card is sent, fake card is sent, empty box, etc. If the deal turns out bad, you have the hassle of dealing w/ ebay/paypal and having $2k of your money tied. There's more risk than typical. You just need to figure out how much you can stomach for a good deal.

Default real

I vote for real. He has been an eBay member since 2009, but it looks like he hasn't bought or sold anything through this account. He also has some nice Goudey commons for sale.

I could be wrong - it wouldn't be the first time.

Rick

I would be hesitant to pay big bucks ($1,000 is for me) based on just that listing alone.

I would agree that the card pictured appears real - I haven't seen a fake that captured the offset printing like that one has. Even so, I would either expect it to be slabbed, or me buy it in person.
