Default PreWar Fakes by Type and Issue

Posted By: Gilbert Maines

Hi all,

Since there appears to be no data compiled which addresses this inquiry, my only source of information is the opinions of those knowledgable in this area. I know of no source of this knowledge comparable to that potentially available from participants in this forum. Please consider the following questions.

Fakes include non-authentic cards and altered cards. There are various means to create both. What is your estimate of the frequency of occurance of the offering for sale of non-authentic cards and altered cards without the seller mentioning that these cards are not originals or modified originals?

And what specific cards are most often faked? T206, 19th century, e-cards, r-cards, etc.?

Thank you, your opinions are quite valuable to us all.
Gil
