Can anyone help me identify the year of this medal?

Not enough information, and it's difficult to see what is in the center. Any markings on the back?

Barry,

I believe it to be a World Series Champions medal from either 1907 or 1908. The person wearing it was a team member of the Chicago Cubs.

If that's the case, you've got it. The metal doesn't look that expensive- is it silver even?- you would think a genuine medal given to the players would be gold. Not sure that is something the team gave to its players.

I was hoping to pin down a year, whether or not it was given out by the league etc, without giving out too much information. Not knowing anything about World Champion medals, I wasn't sure if these were unique to the year they were earned (not seeing a visible year on the medal I thought might support that thinking), or somewhat generic and similar looking, given out over a number of years. Keith
