Sounds good to me!

BTW, #5 was worn by Joe DiMaggio, Bench, Brooks Robinson, Greenberg, Albert P, and George Brett. Good company with that number.

Some good guesses, but not the answer I'm looking for. I thought this would be an easy one.

OK, think the two most famous uniform numbers in the game.

Default I've Got It

Eddie Gaedel wore 1 and 8

He even wore them at the same time as a fraction.

His counterparts would be Pee Wee and Yogi

He did indeed, Ted Williams #.

Joe D wore # 9 his 1st year in the Majors (1936). Frank Crosetti wore #5 that year.

Not the answer to this quiz, though. Continue to think famous # 's worn by a ballplayer who was not that famous.

A HOFer who wore two of the most famous numbers in the game, 3 and 42, was Alan Trammell.

We have a WINNER !…...Thank you Rob M

Cliff Mapes joined the NY Yankees in 1948 and was assigned #3. Babe Ruth's uniform # was retired in August 1948. Mapes then wore #13 in 1948. Mapes wore #7 in 1949 thru 1951.

Mapes was a big guy who could hit the ball a long distance, especially in clutch situations. His greatest achievements, though, were his play in RF. Especially his very accurate rifle arm.
I remember seeing Cliff throw out many runners at Home Plate when I was a kid. Casey Stengel platooned Mapes when he needed a reliable left-handed batter (or a strong arm in RF).

Thanks guys for participating in this quiz.

Very nice gesture Ted! How about I donate it to your next trivia game? Thanks for the entertainment.

Rob M

P.S. But I’m still searching for the illusive "Ted Z" cut signature if you find one!
