If I am reading the 1967 correctly, you could have purchased a complete run of Topps 1952-1966 complete sets for $400.

But you would have had to cough up an additional $ 154 for a set of 64 Stand Ups

Red face

I have a stack of the CPU and CCP (Current Card Prices) from early 80s-maybe 89/90. Love flipping through them and seeing what I coulda got cards for if only I'd been old enough to get a job.........I also have a stack of old Fritsch (One-Of-A-Kind), Young, and Kohler (SportsCardsPlus) catalogs from early-mid 80s......

Default Dear Mr. Gelman

Dear Sirs,
I don't know if you remember me but I have bought cards from you before. This money is all the allowance I have saved in a few months. All of my friends like the new cards but I like the old ones too.
Is there anyway you can mail this so it comes in the mail on Saturday? I don't want my Mom to know I am spending all my allowance on this. I check the mail box on Saturdays.
Yours truly.

Thanks for the memory Al.

Ralph
i talked about it in the good trade/bad trade thread when you mentioned the
Mattingly Mantle-ashtray trade you went through,, yup the early 80s was the lowest point i ever seen in price droping for vintage cards after achieving
significant value! but of course the lowest price for everything was during
there infancy,,,, check out this ad that someone posted at the CU.
i do remember when one of this Wagners was offered to me for $500 and
i turned it down sort of! i offered $300 and the couple that offered walked
away, but thought they would come back since i noticed everybody in the
room turned them down to! oh well.
