Default Off topic… 1920’s theme party - baseball costume ideas?

Looking for ideas for a local party coming up next month that is theme-based in the roaring 1920’s…. Of course, I want to bring baseball to the party and I need some clever ideas.

(Sorry, as a Red Sox fan, I just can’t wear a Yankees costume so Babe is a non-option 😬&#129315

Any good ideas? I thought I might mock up some baseball cards to hand out, sign autographs, etc. I may just be a generic ball player but I figured this group may have some good ideas

Perhaps if all goes well, I may post photos post event… maybe! 🤜🤛

Thx
Jeff

How about a "House of David" uniform with the extra long beard?

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Strive to be happy.

I have a Roy Hobbs jersey I used to wear. If you could get one, that would be pretty cool.

The Royal Rooters may not have made it into the 1920's, but they came close.

Michael T. "Nuf Ced" McGreevy (June 16, 1865 – February 2, 1943) was an American businessman and baseball fanatic. He was the leader of the most vocal fans of the Boston Americans (now the Boston Red Sox), known as the "Royal Rooters", and owner of a Boston bar called the Third Base Saloon.

I think you need to realistically think of your guest list and their knowledge. If you go twenties, which I actually have attended several of before. You are getting 97% guests dressed as flappers (this is likely 100% of female guests), well dressed gatsby men in hats, and a couple folks trying to be quirky doing a train tramp with a bandana on a stick and a newsboy. Also, if you have a friend circle like mine, there will be the one person who takes it wayyy to far by adding wires to a thrift store suit to simulate falling for the stock market crash just to verklempt every one easily offended.

The average public will not recognize a specific 20's player no matter who you pick. If you want to go baseball, there is nothing wrong with that. Just don't go overboard with a specific player just to be disappointed that not a single soul gets anything past "baseball guy".

So embrace the cluelessness, just don't take it too far and enjoy "baseball player guy" and you will save money, work, and annoyance at your own party.

Has anyone else lost a bit of their faith in humanity by realizing that whereas a party used to be all about hitting the keg hard, cranking out the stadium rock, raiding your buddy's fridge for all it was worth and hitting on any girl who was there...to now being about a man dressing up in an old baseball player costume and reciting a poem to the 'guests'????????

Whoa, how the mighty have fallen.

I really like that! And yes, that truly is how it was! Nowadays, you hit on the girl and you'll be arrested, or worse!

Thanks for the great ideas… I appreciate the creativity!

And for the hardo posters who are just too cool for a theme party, I’m glad you had a chance to flex your awesomeness here.

Babe Ruth was baseball in the ‘20s. He is also the most recognizable American figure from the period. If you’re dressed as the Bambino, guests are more likely to “get it” than if you’re anyone else. If they don’t know Babe Ruth, they’re not really in character.

Bite the bullet. Channel your inner Babe Ruth and have fun with it.

Great idea. If someone can make up a mask for Jeff based upon this photo of Landis, he will either be the swellest fella at the party, or be asked to take that sour puss of his and skedaddle.

Not the 20’s but get a Sammy Sosa jersey/ uniform and if you are thin and Caucasian, you could be Sammy Sosa after he quit steroids!

Dress up like a baby with a little toy bat and glove, and when people ask who you are, tell them "Ted Williams."

Order this Corn on the Cob costume and put on a neck tie. When people ask, say you're 'Ty Cobb' 😂.
