This seems to be a genuine example of "was digging through an attic and found..." See the T206 Museum site for details

This story was even featured in an article in the USA Today on Friday in the Sports section.

Boy, a bunch of T206's found... that's a news story. That may have increased the population by, I don't know, .00001%?

The first group of about 100 of these will go on sale on eBay on Monday for 10 days. Mint Xpress is handling the sale. I have closely examined many of these cards and at arm's length they are gorgeous. It's only when the guys at SCDA got ahold of them under halogen lamps and magnifiers that the factory-created flaws are visible and noted on the slabs. What's really great about these is that they are an original one-owner old collection and have not seen the light of day for over 85 years. For 99% of collectors, even if they buy an SCD 4 VG/EX, it will still be the nicest T206 they have ever owned. I learned a ton about the original printing process and what damage could be caused through my study of these cards. I've got my finger on the "bid" button.

Bob-
Since you and I were blessed with such a unique first name, I'll start logging in with the screen name I tend to use on other bulletin boards- brueso.

Do you know what the seller ID name is going to be for the set of auctions?

Bob

David, I've started a column for SCD on the subject; it's too deep to be adequately covered for this message board and I'm current swamped with Standard Catalog work.

Bob, thanks for the note. I half-figured it would be material for an SCD article, and realize that we don't pay your salary for you to write articles here. Best wishes

They're still scrambling to get the first 120 or so cards posted, but key words will be SCD (not SCDA) and T206 (not T 206 or T-206). Should be up Monday night.

"1909" to the key words in heading because the proliferation of the Topps T206 auctions really make a search of just "T206" a headache.

There are some beauties. How much do you think Kit Young will snap up for resale to Topps?
