Hi Glen!

Where did you pick up the Wilson, its very nice!

I have 170 different signed 1933 goudeys and dont have that one, its pretty rare. Yours makes the second Ive seen in 25 years. Here is my fave (its a tie):

I picked it up off Ebay around 2000-1 the best I can remember. The seller said he was selling it along with 2 other 1933 Goudeys for a friend who found them it some of his grandfather's stuff. He said he had no idea if the autograph was real. The 2 other cards were not signed. I THOUGHT IT WAS REAL and won the auction.
When I sent it to PSA/DNA I was pretty sure it would come back authentic, but you never know about them.
I just got through sending in some autographed cards to get authenticated. I sent 5 different Norm Cash cards in and there was one of the 5 that I got in person. Guess which one they questioned the authenticity. You are right if you guessed the one I got signed in person. Another they did not authenticate was the 1967 Topps card with Curt Flood and Lou Brock together and I stood & watched them both sign it when I was a kid. There's more stories but I will stop there.
I always say PSA has your money whether they authenticate an autograph or not and no matter what grade they assign your cards.
They sure miss alot on cards that I got signed in person.

Glen

Glen... Since you can see they don't know what they're doing, why do you keep sending autographs to them?

The reason why I send cards in to get them PSA/DNA authenticated is because the BIG price increase in value just because they are in those little magic holders.

Just check the PSA/DNA 1958 Topps that have gone off on ebay the last couple of days.

Jimmy Spence is really better at authenticating vintage autographs and PSA is the last word on the Michael Jordans, Labron James, Tiger Woods, ETC.

How's that for a big laugh.

Overall the autographs that they authenticate are more than worth the ones they miss. Even though you are right, they don't always know what they are doing.

We (the Net54 board, not my collective self) think this very well might have been signed by Chief Meyers. I will probably send it to JSA...

Sean or Glen, I would love to see more of the signed 1933 Goudeys (especially Hall of Famers). I love that set. I was able to get a Rick Ferrell card signed before he passed away that is one of my favorites despite the poor shape of the card itself.

I will definitely owe Clint kisses and hugs if the M110 comes back authentic but I think that will be a debt I won't repay!! I have had one resident board auto expert email me and say he feels 100% sure it is a good Meyers scribble. As I have said I will probably send it to JSA for their COA.....I guess it was a good buy at $125?

Leon, can you get my name on the slab at least? I'm feeling no love. Something like the Hromek boy find would be nice. happy.gif

I know it's a bat but here's my favorite Chief Meyers auto.

Here are 2 of my favorites.

This is my cousin, who was signed off the Duke University campus in 1934 by Connie Mack & spent part of 1 yr in the Majors w/ the Phil A's, playing along side Jimmy Foxx, Doc Cramer et al. Arm trouble & wildness kept him from playing in 1935 & forever beyond!

To my knowledge this PC is his only baseball card--(There is one other PC w/ a slightly different pose, which I also have w/ auto)

Thanks Paul, I forget where it came from, but I'm sure it was from someone with a passion for certain things that rivals mine.

In reference to the Earl Whitehill above, I just finished Elden Auker's book
"sleeper cars and flannel uniforms", in which he reveals that whitehills' wife is the maiden pictured on the boxes of SunMaid raisens. Just some meaningless trivia. Great book.
