Default Is this T-206 Worth Grading

Posted By: Gary Weatherhead

I was wondering if some of the experienced vintage baseball collectors on these boards could tell me if this card is worth having graded. It has an odd brown cast to it unlike the other T-206 I own. It almost looks shellacked.

Thanks
Gary

Gary, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but no the card is unfortunately not legit.

**Just FYI Old mills are only found printed in black ink, and very rarely a light brown ink. Many reprints were issued with this "red" Old Mill back.

Gary - unfortunately it is a reproduction (fake) and probably not worth grading as its worth very little.

Or, save the grading fee and buy a real T206.

Thanks gentleman. My suspicions were correct. I just thought of something interesting. Can't wait to tell the flea market dealer I'm a lawyer

Appreciate the feedback

Was this your first attempt to buy a T206? It's important to familiarize yourself a little about what you're buying before jumping in. Going through Ebay's listings of graded T206 cards will really help you recognize the "look" to stay away from in vintage cards you find at flea markets.

If you are a novice stay away from graded cards from companies other than SGC, PSA, Beckett, and GAI.....These companies rarely grade fakes mistakenly......and will usually stand behind a mistake if they make one.....Read this board a lot too ...it will help...Don't feel bad either....Every single person on this board, that has collected for a while, has made a mistake on a card at one time or another...Good luck in the hunt......regards
