Default Getting Verified on Paypal

Posted By: Jay Miller

I've just started using paypal and was thinking about becoming verified. Since this links a bank account to your paypal account is there any downside in doing this? If there is a dispute with paypal can they remove funds from your account without your permission? Thanks for your input.

Jay

verified on pay pal.  It is a very easy procedure and it does help those buyers and sellers who don't know you. (i.e  they "know" your address is a real address).  As far as I am aware, pay pal cannot take funds out of your account unless you transfer them there yourself.  Hope this helps.

to settle a dispute against you if they deem the dispute is legitimate. I've heard stories of accidental debits to accounts by paypal but it's not happened to me. Also, as a seller, you are not protected by Paypal if you ship to an address that is not verified.

Paypal can take money out of your paypal balance/account. My understanding is if you regularly remove that money into a linked bank account (or do anything else to deplete your balance, ie spend it), paypal cannot go into your bank account itself to reclaim disputed funds.

I've had no problems with PayPal that I can attribute to having become a Verified member. They incorrectly found against me one time in a dispute with a buyer, leaving me with a negative balance, but as far as I know the same thing would have happened had I not been verified.

and they each spelled my address differently (but only a little). I've tried several times to correct the problem, but to no avail. Once someone didn't want to ship to my unverified address, but apparently a look at my meager but perfect feedback reassured him.

Many people--including myself--dislike paypal's taking part of any paytment made to or from you for themselves; it's sort of a tossup whether to do it quick and expensive by paypal, or slower by mail. There isn't any charge for putting money in your bank account from your paypal account, of course.
