Default Larry Fritsch and other OJ Reprint sets

I am primarily a Beater T206 collector but I have been taken by the allure of the Old Judge baseball cards but being that they are so expensive I have decided to pick up a few OJ Reprints that are available.

The set I have bought are the Larry Fritsch Auctions set which consists of 80 cards. I know this is WELL shy of a Complete Set Reprint Series. I am curious why Fritsch only reprinted these 80 cards in the set and if any other company or individual has ever attempted to reprint the ENTIRE Old Judge collection (or known cards). Also when were the 80 Fritsch Cards produced. Thanks for any answers.

The closest you'll come to a complete reprint set would be to buy the book "The Photographic Cards of Goodwin & Co. (1886-1890)". You will find all 522 subjects and nearly 2500 different poses including all 6 poses of Phenomenal Smith.

Here is a review on the book: http://www.oldcardboard.com/eNews/20.../eNews57.htm#2

Sounds like a great book! Only would be improved if the pages were perforated cards like the old Dover reprints. Hard to believe only 6 poses of Phenomenal Smith! He warrants at least a dozen

Hi Slim - These are my OJ reprints that I listed on eBay. FYI, I also showed them last year on Net54 in this thread: http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...ighlight=royer
There have been a few Net54 threads about these cards over the years - if you do a search using the word "Royer" (the name of the confectioner that is stamped on the backs of some of these cards), you will find these threads, which is where I got the info that I mentioned in my eBay listing.

Hi Jason - Many thanks for your kind endorsement!

Best,
Val
