Default Oddball Hall of Fame Cards

Posted By: Walter

I thought some folks might like these. I know I'm missing the cutoff by 2 years, but the cards portray pre-1990 HOFers. These were issued at the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies in 1992 to commemorate that year's class. I was there to see my favorite player, Connie Hawkins, get inducted. He was a real gentleman and I was happy to meet him.

I'm not sure how I got the cards. They may have been a giveaway at one of the dinners I attended. I'm pretty sure they were free.

Cool - I've seen the White before - do you have a second set you'd like to sell?

Thanks for sharing.

If Connie Hawkins would have spent his whole career in the NBA, he would be considered one of the great forwards of all time.

Nice set Walter. Thanks for sharing.

Jim - I agree. Connie Hawkins was one of my favorite players !!! He was something very special in the 1960's with the Gobetrotters & the Pittsburgh Rens, and even the ABA Pipers. By the time he got to the Phoenix Suns in the early 1970's he was still good of course, but was beginning to slow down with age.

Thanks for the kind words about the set. I wish I had another one to sell. It's funny, but I can remember where I got almost every card in my collection, but not these. Anyway, here's the Hawkins.

Just as an aside to Jim. If the NBA would have done the right thing and not banned Connie to begin with, he would have spent his entire career in the League. Instead they grouped him with players who actually threw games and unjustly banned him from the League. This was proven when he won reinstatement in 1969. However by this time he was already having trouble with his knees and was nothing like he was in the early to mid 1960s.
