w514 Ruth

The colors look all wrong, could it just be a bad scan?

I'm sorry, I'm not too familar with that issue, but I dont think thats a very good likeness of the Babe. Were all the cards in that issue un life like?

i am no expert on this issue.but i like them alot. i do not know of reprints from this set.now,photo/lazer copies and stolen scans are another matter.i have 2 yellow background 514's and the black border line is visible and it is visible on the collins i scanned also. there is a bleed ala goudey on my red ones.i do not see the black border line in the ruth.

I have 2 W514s, one with a red background, one with a blue background, and both have the black outline clearly visible bled through onto the back. The dirty rubbing on the back of this Ruth card is a bit fishy. Maybe it's just the scan, but I think the color is a bit off, too, and the black outlines aren't as crisp. But maybe it's just me...

this is a card that should be authenticated,if it is sold in an on line auction. that is since you can't touch it or put it up to light.

Dennis -
I would agree that in this situation i'm surprised it's not authenticated. I wouldn't think that everyone who sold a w514 ruth would need to authenticate it in order to sell it, but it's a new seller and questionable scans and that is why i raised the issue. There are a good number of sellers that i wouldn't be surprised if they listed a W514 that wasn't authenticated.

Here's my SGC 1.5 Ruth (writing on back). The yellow background is much brighter ... his card could be authentic, but it doesn't look as good as it could.
