Default What was this guy smoking?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1909-11-OLD-...item2ec9b71a57

From a seller with feedback of over 3000 we get the following

A questionable username (see photo below)

An uncropped O'Leary ultra-microscan.

A trimmed card detectable under magnification despite the small scan.

A description of a 1961 Mantle Maris team card followed by the statement

"The scan will do a great job of showing you the exact card you will receive."

I've spotted a ridiculous listing, had my seizure, and would caution the newbies not to bid on this auction.

Because I am here and no other reason, now that you are done with your seizure, you MUST take the time and tell me what you saw that made you think there is something wrong with that card. Do not tell me to check the Archives as that would take too much energy. You MUST tell me NOW or I will make veiled accusations of elitism and then expect you to explain it to me anyway. I am waiting.

Mike, look at how uneven the top and bottom borders are. They should be straight. They aren't just trimmed, they're trimmed quite poorly

Wow Frank, an intelligent article on Wikipedia. And I thought Wiki was only useful for looking up the cast of Gilligan's Island.

I prefer Tweezerman for my tobacco cards.

Unlike the scan referenced in the OP, you can easily see that this image is an authentic Tweezerman specimen.

The background is the same color in the card portrayed, as in the '61 Topps card that is described. If you colored the ground green in the team pic, and their uniforms grey, they would be very similar.

But for newbies, the real key is that there are not enough players in the T206 depicted.

Most of the Strip Cards that I have seen are Tweezerman Specials..Here is a rare exception.

Obvious fake ..... as seen in scan below, the borders do not line up ....

aaaa.jpg

In reality, the seller just messed up his listing. A trimmed Old Mill O'Leary for $20 isn't the worst thing in the world.
