Texas needs anti-Freese to get him out.

The Cards may need to let him pitch.

very anti-climatic

Rangers choke job will go down in history as one of the biggest.

I feel bad for their manager but he is as much to blame as Cruz, Feliz, Andrus, etc.

They basically deserved to lose......and they did.

I was pulling for the Rangers but the Cards deserved it. I just hate it when a wild card team wins it all. Now they are adding two teams to the post season. How long until the MLB resembles the NBA?

Default Cards...2011 champs

Well even though they defeated my beloved Phillies...I was cheering for the Cards.
A great series to watch ...drama and excitement even if it wasn't always pretty. I had a feeling that the Texas pitchers wouldn't hold up. Seems they couldn't hit the corners...either a walk or a meatball so many times.

A very nice season Cardinals...from 10 1/2 games back in September to the 2011 crown!!
Congrats to the Cardinal fans!!

Well done El Birdos!
Looked like last night took the starch out of Texas.
A great year for both teams but what an incredible last seven weeks for the Redbirds.

Attended Game 7 tonight with my son. What a special night for this lifelong Cardinals fan, and to see it in person with someone who shares my love for the game is a memory we will both cherish forever. It's 2:30 in the morning and even though I've had about four hours sleep the last two days, thanks to that preposterous Game 6, sleep is the farthest thing from my mind right now.

Poor Nolan Ryan--he's got to be thinking, "boy, we never gagged like that back in '69!!!

Way back, I was rooting for my Braves.
Then they dropped.
Surprised the Cards took the Phils.
Not surprised they took the Rangers. Though I am a big fan of Nolan.

Congratulations to the Cardinals.

I was certainly wrong about this one - didn't see how the Rangers could fail to come back and win big last night. I've seen people choke in situations that just amazed me, and that's what happened in game 6 to Feliz, Cruz, etc. - it's a weird thing to see players with proven track records totally gag, but it happens all the time. The exact opposite came over Freese and Berkman. It's hard not to like the Cardinals - great team with great players, especially these two.

The Rangers apparently had 1/2 inning left in them for last night, while the Cardinals had an entire game, and the legacy of having won the series many times in the past. I just hope the Rangers get the opportunity next year to become the Buffalo Bills of baseball. Meanwhile, think I'll go throw up again.

The cleat marks in Carpenter's back are probably feeling a little better today.

One extra note about the Cardinals World Series win, they did not back into this win. They beat the best three teams possible. That says a lot about their character and resilience.

I just read online that Tony LaRussa retired today. Is that true?

Apparently it is true I'm not sure who they'll get to replace him. He will definitely be missed. It's a great way for him to end his career though.

I guess he was afraid if he managed much longer his hair would start to go gray.

Love him or hate him, he accomplished a lot. Rumored successors? Oquendo or Francona?

Default LaRussa

Saw this on another board and thought it was funny:

La Russa was asked why he put Lance Berkman in left field and Allen Craig in right field for Game 3 on Sunday night. His answer:

“It’s my tribute to Moneyball. I’m not a big Moneyball fan. I have this little place, don’t have a big place. So what we do is we take the square footage between the right field line and center field and the square footage and from left field to center field, divide that by pi and we multiply it by bulls***, and then we pick the dugout. The field that’s closest to the dugout and that’s where Lance plays.”
