Default Spalding trophies

I know based on price they are tough to get, but which one/ones out of the five is/are the hardest to get? Thanks for your help. Just curious.

Default No doubt.... It is the BATTER Trophy

Here is how they rank in terms of scarcirty (I have given this lots of thought through the years...)

1. Batter
2, Catcher
3. Pitcher
4. 1st Baseman
5. Fielder

The Catcher usually sells for the most, as collectors seem to like it best. Plus, there are lots of other vintage Batter, Pitcher and Fielder Trophies out there (although few are as nice as the Spaldings). Many fewer Catcher figurals exist.

For those 2 reasons, the Catcher usually realizes the highest price. Plus, it's just a great looking figural. But after tracking these things for nearly 2 decades, I am positive that the Batter is the most seldom-seen of the five.

I agree that the batter is the hardest to come by. After that, they all seem about the same to me.

Ricky, I have no idea but Lot #205 in Hunt's auction states that the Fielder Trophy is the rarest. I have personally seen the pitcher the most, then the catcher, then the batter. I would think the fielder and the first baseman are the toughest.

I saw that comment in Hunt's description too, and (with all due respect) completely disagree with them. Not sure who at Hunt's wrote that description, but would love to have a chat with him/her.

If you count Ebay, there have been 5 fielder trophies offered this past year, vs one batter trophy (which just ended in Lelands). And if you read Carlton Hendricks' write-up of the 2008 National, there were 3 Fielder Trophies for sale, vs. one of each of the others.

Previous years' offerings have not been skewed that severely, but the Fielder has always been more prevalent than the Batter.
