Default Insane PSA grade, and bidding, on a CJ 14?

Check this out and tell me 1) how the Tesreau got a PSA 4 (see front and back) and 2) why it's already up to $676 even though not especially rare plus the laughable grade (PSA 4s normally getting about $220 now)....Well, no caramel stains! But looks like it was stepped on a few times...

I don't understand how it received a 4 given the paper loss.

I noticed that as well. I know when i submit cards like that, they receive 1's and (possibly, if I am lucky) 2's. I would take my SGC 40 any day of the week.

An example of one of the reasons I will not submit cards for grading.

This is obviously a "look the other way" grade given by Psa to a regular customer. We all know this takes place far too often, and essentially has infected the hobby far too deeply in multiple manners. The irony (lost on no one I'm sure) is that Psa waves one of the largest banners for participation in the hobby, yet knowingly is polluting it. Thankfully Leon, his site, and so many awesome members wave the strongest and most meaningful banner!!

I have the complete 1914 CJ set, and Psa is really all over the place with this set. I'm sure that's true for many pre-wars. I can say that I have worse looking Psa 4's from 1914. And I'm certainly not defending the Psa nitwits. But what we have here with the Tesreau card is the classic case of buying the holder.

Nope, no worse looking PSA 4's, but I feel as if I have cornered the market on undergraded 1914 CJ's cards
