Those are some nice checks. I would love to know why Cobb wrote a$250.00 dollar check to Pac Tel.and Tel. Seems like a lot of money then.

Perhaps a stock purchase? Cobb was an investor in the stock market.
Just a guess...

Well, I've never seen your cheeks so I cannot respond one way or another...

My pickups for the month. Nothing that exciting, got doubles of Larkin along with Federov and Izzo at the Derek Jeter No-Show event in Michigan and upgraded my Dean from a fellow Board member.

The Larkin autographed photo I was mentioning is the one taken in Candlestick Park with a Giants player sliding under Larkin into 2nd base

Some pick ups for the month.
1. A Frank Frisch 3x5 . The green ink caught my eye. Like I need another Frisch.
2. A Gabby Hartnett vintage signed Baseball Magazine photo. I really like those autographed. They display nicely if you like to display them.
3. A full name Duke Snider check.
4. A Reggie Jackson check. I liked the Corvette logo on the check and since he collects vintage Corvettes I thought it would be a nice addition to my collection.

Richard,
Just curious what restaurant "The Duke" dined at?
It may be back in my own stomping grounds....

Elio Chacon, from a private signing with Bill Corcoran in 1991.
One of the very toughest autographs of 1960's player and an original NY Met.

Default My First Ruth signed piece..

Absolutely thrilled with this addition...just thought I would share it with the forum!

The autograph was taken on October 16, 1934 right before Mr. Ruth embarked for the Tour of Japan and is part of an autograph book. Other signers include Connie Mack, Chas Gehringer, Joe Cascarella, and John Quinn.

FYI: It is a minor point, but this is not a free frank, it is an endorsement. A free frank is signed on an envelope in the upper right corner in lieu of a stamp when it is to be mailed. Franking privileges were and are reserved for the President, Vice President, Cabinet Secretaries and members of Congress in both houses. Years ago it was free. Now it is paid for at a reduced postage cost. During the Civil War it was also used by officers. A great place to find them is at good sized stamp shows.

I've been looking for a fun, modern project to work on, and this fits the bill perfectly. A BBHOF poster signed by 82 HOF'ers already including most of the big names that were still alive back on the show signing circuit such as Dimaggio, Mantle, Campanella, Williams, etc., etc., etc. My plan is pretty simple, just add to it when I get a chance with HOF'ers only. Should provide for years of fun. Bought it tonight from a fellow NET54'er.

Here it is:

and here's the legend to the signatures:

I'm always impressed by the stuff that other members here have picked up, but these last few days have just blown me away! These are some really cool autographs!
