Default George Burke Photo ID Help 1932 White Sox

As the title says, can anyone help me ID this player? The uniform is a one year only alternate home jersey for 1932 White Sox. It's 11x14 and has the Burke stamp on the back.

I picked it up with a couple of others that I was able to ID, but this one stumps me. Also, i'm not good with the faces, ears, etc like some of you guys are. Thanks in advance, Jason

Yeah, can't you flip the photo around and see the number on the back of his uniform?

Lance,
There’s nothing on the back except the stamp. The photo is more like a heavy paper stock material with a large border. Not glossy. It’s really nice quality. Total size 11x14, but the photo of player itself is 8x11.

Looks like Bob "Fats" Fothergill. Played for the Sox 1930-32.

He was a pretty good outfielder who had great seasons of .353, .367, .359 and .354 for the Tigers in the 1920s. Unfortunately, as his nickname suggests, Fothergill battled a weight problem as he got older. Still, he hit .296, .282 and .295 for the White Sox.

Sounds consistent with the larger presentational prints that Burke would produce. I was hoping the file code might have been included to simplify the identification, but it's not surprising to hear that it is just Burke's stamp on the back. I'll try to get into my scans tonight and see if I can confirm the ID from the Burke photos I've handled previously.

Jason,

The player in question may very well be Luzerne "Lu" Blue. He was Chicago's 1B for a couple seasons - based on other members of that 32 team, his likeness best matches that of the player pictured here.

Again, this is just my assessment, but I at least wanted to share given that I also have a Burke 11x14 of Charlie Berry, who served as the catcher on that very same 32 Chicago team.

Best,
Josh

I looked at that for a possibility, but wasn't sure. He has those kind of sunken eyes though and the time period is correct.

Lance, it does look like a presentation photo. There's a crimped border at the 8x11 mark on the 11x14 paper. It's really high quality. I'll also include an overall photo as well as the back stamp and angled shot of the front. Thanks for everyone's help along with whoever else wants to chime in with info. Jason

It does appear that the players name on the bat begins with the letter L

Not an exact match for the pose, but I think Lu Blue is the better match. I found this among my scans for comparison, also shot by Burke:
