Default The ONE card you want.....that you can afford....

Hope this thread is ok, Leon.

What is the ONE card that you really really want for your collection......that you can afford? If the '52 Mantle or t206 Plank is in your budget, then by all means congrats....but it's not in mine!

I would really really love to have an e98 Cobb. Haven't had a Cobb in my collection in a few years, and it is the last of the "expensive" cards I need for the set. There are a couple of overpriced ones on eBay, and I'm not about to pull the plug

So what is yours? Doesn't have to be expensive. Just a card that "NEEDS" to be in your collection.

Jimi

Not vintage, but i have been looking for this forever. In 1996, Marshall University won it's second D1AA championship. Someone, though who is shaky, issued a phone card of the two quarterbacks from those teams, Michael Payton, who went to camp with the Cowboys and Eric Kresser who played briefly for the Bengals. I have seen only one, which was on ebay years ago.

Along with my Monster obsession, I have a very comprehensive Marshall University collection...but that one has evaded me. In fact, I have never found another collector or Herd fan who even remembers it.

I'd like to re-acquire a 1951 Bowman Ted Williams in the VG range at some point. Also would like to get a 1952 Bowman Feller in the VG range, as I am now collecting 1952 Bowman (have 61 so far...)

Default My Big Card

I want a Boston Store Joe Jackson. Somehow I missed the one that sold in SCP Auctions 3 years ago. I would like one in a SGC/PSA 2-3 range. I'll just be patient, and I'm sure one will come up for sale at some point. I enjoy the hunt in the meantime.

T206 Piedmont 350-460 Factory 42 back. I've been hoping to luck into one not noted in the ebay auction description, but I might just have to bite the bullet and ante up...

You are a child of the universe,

you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,

Simply a t206 Cobb, bat off, PSA or SGC 2 or 3, well-centered--if you have one, let me know!

Cy Blanton from the Diamond Stars series. My great-grandfather's name was Blanton, and everyone called him Cy after the baseball player. I've wanted the card forever, and never seemed to get around to it.

One day I would like to get a clean green Cobb.

Here is the first error I "discovered" and was the underbidder on....it is now in the collection of a good friend and one day I will pull the trigger and make the trade.

First and foremost...a T205 Hoblitzell no stats in poor-fair condition.

Next is a '58 Kahn's Wally Post in p-vg condition or a JJK Copyart Ennis in any condition.

Just a few things I just cant seem to find but know they are out there.

Ever since I accidentally got a good deal on a Medwick Gold Medal Foods card two years ago I have wanted to continue building the set. I have been the underbidder on several of them over those two years, and could have gone higher for most, but I have a strict price range in mind, and alas, my range has not reflected the market range. Long story short, Medwick remains my one and only R313-A, even as the set remains my top pre-war set to work toward.

It's not a card, but I would like to get a Babe Ruth signed ball some day, that is reasonably legible (not shellacked), and not too expensive.

Two years ago, i played hardball negotiating for a 1933 Goudey #160 Lou Gehrig SGC 88. I got beaned.

Still looking for an SGC 84 or better. I would gladly overpay now, but don't tell anyone.

There's several but tops is probably a t206 Lundgren (Chicago); can't finish the Cub subset without him. If he was a HOFer or it was a rare/odd card it wouldn't be an issue. I just have a lot of angst spending that kind of money for a common with no particular story behind it.......unless I'm missing something.

1913 Zeenut Orval Overall

I've never even seen one for sale, but I can now say I've at least seen a picture of the card. I suspect I will eventually find one, just not in the near future.

Interesting topic.

I can't afford ANY cards, but I keep buying them.

So, of the unaffordable cards that I would buy anyway, if it was available and I could get hold of the cash...

A '2 name' T206 with Plank or Wagner at the top. I say 'affordable', because I think I would value it more highly than most other bidders. But I might be wrong.

An Old Judge Kid Madden/leaning on rock pose. Very affordable card since he's a common, but an almost impossible pose of him. Every time I see a Madden in an auction/ebay it's always disappointment...11 years ago I passed on one because the price was too good, long story, long dumb story

Derek, there's a 1.5 t205 Joss in the first Joe's Vintage auction, just posted today... maybe you want better grade but, as the say, "affordable"

Thank you Greg, I appreciate the heads up. What I am really looking for is an example with sharp corners and all of the gold intact. A high end example, so to speak. I just do not see them very often. There will come a day! Thank you again for the heads up.
