I am starting to sell about 1/2 of my dads 52 topps set to fund a summer project for him. My mac died with all my scans and prices so its been a rough two weeks. While researching prices again tonight I come across this current Memory Lane auction.

http://www.memorylaneinc.com/site/bi...etauctionid=93

Black star overprint what? Sure enough dad had one....almost sold it for $45.

Saw that someone else on here picked one of these up recently and couldn't imagine why I didn't have one in my collection, too! I'll be shocked if Big Frank isn't a first ballot Hall of Famer when he is eligible...

Nice card, Jeff. Wonder if there was ever a card with an image of Santo after that game in '69 - a win over the Cardinals, when he jumped in the air and clicked his heels together in celebration. Lou Brock famously called it bush, and, as if by karma, the Cubs then went into a sickening tailspin and lost their ten game lead over the Mets. With all the showboating these days, players probably wouldn't even notice something like that.

It was extremely tough for me to find these cards graded. Happy to add these to my HOF player collection.

Default See the post in pre-war about the story of the Campenella

There is a full story of what happened to the Campenella in the prewar side about what I got baseball related for Christmas.

Besides that here is my other prize of the day from my lovely wife.

Congrats on picking up some seriously nice wax packs. Those are fantastic.

Eric, You think you picked up enough Munson RC's this month! Very nice!

Added this to my Post War HOF RC's. Been looking for a nice one for some time.

Nice pickups everyone, especially all the packs. One question - what's the story on the pack that PSA indicates is 1965 topps in a 1962 wrapper?

The 65 packs in 62 wrappers were just an unusual thing. They were in fact high numbered series pack issued in 1962 wrappers. I first saw these packs back in 1991. I have seen other years wrapped in wrong wrappers, for instance. 1960 wax in a 1958 wrapper and also 1963 penny packs in 1962 wrappers. I have also seen 1971 packs in 1970 wrappers.

I posted that I picked this up before, but the seller lost it before he could send it to me! Well, he finally found it and now I am the new happy owner. It's a real beauty.
