Default Meeting a childhood hero.

During the summer of 1974, I attended Camp Creative in Valley Stream, New York. One day, they had New York Mets star Felix Millan there. I was in attendance. Mr. Millan did a question and answer session then signed autographs for everyone. It is one the most cherished memories of my childhood. I would never get that close to a major leaguer during that time. If I had to encounter just one, I an glad it was Mr. Millan. He was so nice and he actually gave up his day, during the season to come out and see a bunch of children. He is true ambassador to the game.

Today, 41 years later, I finally caught up to him. He was signing at a show here at Hofstra. I made sure I was first in line and had him sign a photo and a 1974 Topps card. I told him of my story and he was the most gentle and wonderful person I have ever met. He truly remains one of my personal favorites.

Congrats Tom, nice story. Did anyone choke up higher than Felix Millan?

Very nice story. I love when a good story is able to come full circle. Thanks for sharing.
