Default Gray back/front?

I was watching this card and said to myself, that is a Gray back/front but the card only had 1 bid of $89 dollars the last time I looked again a short while ago. (Also thought, maybe, the scan/age might be giving its gray appearance as well?)

I missed watching it but I was going to bid up to a $100 in hopes of getting it thinking it was worth the chance and seeing as it was a 7, I didn't think it would be money unwisely spent either if it turned out it wasn't.
I just checked it now and noticed the final price/bid.

Guess I wasn't the only one thinking it was a gray back/front.

So someone else made a mistake or is that what that card is worth in a 7, which I find difficult to believe?

You were not the only one who thought it was a gray back. There WAS a scan if the back too

The back looked slightly different from the rest as well, just not as obvious looking as the front.
Was/is there any cards that just have gray fronts and not backs? I have read where some have both, front and back, but if singular, it is just the backs.

I've been fooled plenty of times by cards with dirty fronts. It's always a guess if there is no back scan

That buyer made an expensive mistake, as it least it would be to me.

Thanks for the info, Ted.

Default Gray Back McMillan

I find it interesting that a PSA 7 Gray Back McMillan was on EBAY that was slabbed without stating it was a gray back and another PSA 7 McMillan Gray Back was in a lot that Lelands auctioned last September in an older slab without stating it was a Gray Back. https://lelands.com/bids/bidplace?itemid=84328

What are the odds that two different Gray Back McMillan's both graded PSA 7 without stating such on the flip pop up within about six months?

I wondered about both those cards but just figured the flips were too old to state it?

Anyone know what year these grays were slabbed as such and how long ago these grays were recognized as unique/special?
