Default 1907 Dietsche Cubs Set Question

Posted By: Josh

One of my senior citizen clients had a complete set of these. He had no clue what they were worth, I showed him the SCD price guide and wound up buying them today for $1K. Some of the cards have light water staining, similar to that on Tinker below. All of the cards have evidence that they were stored in an album with corner tab type holders, but no creases.

Questions:
1) What condition would these be considered?
2) Are they better off graded or raw?
3) Grade only stars or whole set?
4) SGC or PSA (with PSA they would all be 1/1 first graded except Brown)?

Thanks for all input.
Josh

An nice SGC graded set was on ebay in the last two weeks or so with a minimum bid of $2,000.00. As I recall, it didn't sell.

I think you got a great deal.

Default 1907 Dietsche Cubs Set Question

Josh-

Nice pickup!! I picked up a raw set about a year ago for 1500 - it graded mostly SGC 60 and one SGC 70. Other than the water stains, yours looks comparable.

I recently listed my complete graded set on ebay with a starting bid of 2000. I pulled the auction before it ended (no bids at that time) as I had second thoughts about selling it - I really love this set! I had numerous email requests/offers about the set once I pulled it. The Cubs cards are so tough to find - much tougher than the Tigers. I think you got a good deal, even with the water stains. Congrats.

Paul
