Default 19th Century Items for sale

Posted By: Glenn

I have the following items for sale. I am willing to discuss trade for partial payment for most items, but my primary interest is vintage equipment.

1. Leslie's bound volume: 9/23/1865 to 9/15/1866. Includes the 11/4/1865 double page Death of Creighton; 7/21/1866 front cover The Officers of the National Association of Base Ball Players; and eight issues with woodcuts of individual players along with written profiles. Bound cover has wear but is strong and tight. Inside issues are in outstanding condition. $895

2. Death of Creighton. Double page from 11/4/1865 issue of Leslie's has been matted and framed to total measurement of almost 20"x25". Outstanding condition with only small holes in the middle crease as it was apparantly taken from a bound volume. $675 SOLD

3. The Picked Nine of Cincinnati. Full page composite of the Red Stockings from the 7/17/1869 Leslie's. $350

4. Nap Lajoie full page cover of Leslie's, 9/16/1895. Lajoie in Philly uniform with NY catcher and ump, with Giants bench in the background. $95 SOLD

5. Leslie's 4/25/1895 full issue with a full page spread of the NY Giants. Has a center team photo surrounded by six individual photos including Amos Rusie, Doyle and Davis. $35

6. 1886 Detroit Lorillard Team Card. Low grade: creases, chips along the borders and dirty. Maybe a G. $800. SOLD

7. 1887 Chicago BBC Advertising Currency. Very nice with only two light folds. $795 SOLD

8. 1888 Sporting Times Cigar Card. Giants, of course. Yes, it has the obligatory tobacco stain, in the LL corner. LL and UL corners are chipped and the other two corners have creases. Some chipping along the right border. Back is part of a ledger. $495 SOLD

9. 19th century football woodcuts. 6 total, all from Harper's. Remington, A.B. Frost, etc. There are 2 front covers, both the same; 2 other full page; 2 double page. The double page are: A Game of Foot-Ball, The Scrimmage, from a Frost drawing; and the double page supplement of Yale Foot Ball which has the team picture, including Beecher, in the center, surrounded by game and fan scene drawings. This one has ratty edges, but can be matted to display beautifully. $60.

10. Tom Sayers, full page from Leslie's, 3/24/1860. $45

11. 19 Harpers hunting and fishing woodcuts, all from A.B. Frost drawings. 1 front cover; 2 double page (both the same); and 16 other full page. Some duplication. One or two are beat up, but most are very nice. $55

I also have numerous full issues of Harper's from 1861, '62 and '64, though none contain sports related woodcuts.
