Default Dire Straits anyone?

A fantastic live video of their all time classic Sultans of Swing.
Just listen to Knopfler's guitar work here, another great guitar god.

Yeah, I couldn't believe Knopfler was playing his electric guitar solos completely finger picked. Blew my mind. That's another great song, by the way; and, Brothers in Arms, which came out in '85-that was a tremendous album. I didn't listen to a lot of their music after that came out. My tastes just went in another direction. But I acknowledge they're a great band.

Never know how a great guitarist is going to play. Knopfler uses his fingers, Eddie Van Halen and Paul Gilbert will pull out a power drill, Jimmy Page will use a bow, and Brian May plays with a British sixpence coin.

I love Mark Knopfler's solo albums. If you haven't listened, you must try "Sailing to Philadelphia" & "Shangri-La". His other solo albums are very good too.

Saw him in concert about 5 years ago. Fantastic show!

IMO, " Making Movies" is by far their best album. 3-4 Summers ago I listened to nothing but that album, 38 Special at Sturgis and Bob Dylan's Tangled up in Blue. I finally broke out.

One of our favorites here. Fantastic guitarist -- unique, immediately identifiable sound --
and terrific songwriter. Top-notch film scores as well. Just yesterday picked up the CD
of his collaboration with another favorite, Emmylou Harris. Hoping to find time tomorrow
to give it a listen...

I believe Mark Knopfler is the best living guitarist and one of the best of all time. He is the only guitarist I thought could replace Jerry Garcia when he passed.

That isolated SoS is SICK!
