Default 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA 7

A 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA 7 sold for $100,000 in memory lane auction last night which once again shows that Mantle's are skyrocketing!

With the last few PSA 8s selling for 400k I'd say that's a bargain.

If it was centered and had no tilt, who knows where it would have ended. Fun to contemplate.

If it was centered and had no tilt, my guess is it would have ended up in the MattyC collection

My wife and I are heading to Louisville for our anniversary, and I am looking forward to seeing your Mantle! (She gets the bourbon trail and I get the Louisville Slugger museum!).

Funny, Chris! Thanks and hope you enjoy the card and the exhibit. I have heard fantastic things about the whole exhibit from the museum folks and many who've attended. Wish I could make it there myself.

Having that card featured on primetime news programs was easily the highlight of my collecting career.

And if that 7 was dead centered with no tilt, I can safely say as tempting as a dead centered, tiltless '52 Topps Mantle is, seeing as it would cost over 150k I would always take the one at the museum over it I've had the opportunity to upgrade the corners once now to a higher grade, but it's the freak color on the 4.5 that really sets it apart from even other centered copies. I don't know why its inks are deeper than others, but am just eternally grateful it came off the press that way!

Here's a good pic someone sent me from the museum:
