Default Thoughts on "AutographFacts"?

What are your guys thoughts on PSA's new "AutographFacts".

I think it is pretty neat, it gives me good solid examples (I hope?) to compare to when buying autos - and I can look it up on tablet or phone - for me being mobile it is a solid resource.

its a bunch of baloney in my opinion, the price guide on boxing is way off.

jack johnson signed 3 x 5's for 350 dollars? john l. sullivan for 450? I will take all anyone has at that price and more.

they are clueless.

Hey Travis, not so much the price guide as the exemplars displayed for an individual's use (I honestly didn't see the pricing - and have never found SMR to be incredibly accurate.)

Agreed. Nice to see PSA offering up some exemplars.

Why no "post accident" exemplars for Roy Campanella....He did still sign quite a bit after his accident....

Default PSA exemplars

To their credit, at least PSA posted legitimate exemplars for all of the baseball players that I looked at.

FWIW, it's amazing that they can't seem to get many easy one's right when you submit items to be authenticated...

exemplars stink too! More than one are bogus in my very humble opinion.

Curious which ones you saw that were bogus?

We would all hope but hoping doesn't make something real. I can tell you the Robert Fitzsimmons is not a genuine autograph.
http://www.psaautographfacts.com/Aut...ob-fitzsimmons
It is in the hand of his wife and this example certainly helps explain why I was sued over a silly PSA/DNA rejection letter regarding Fitzsimmons autograph and had to drive 4hrs and 15min to get a ruling in my favor. How do you authenticate a real autograph when you have non-authentic exemplars in your files?

It could also be an indication why PSA/DNA does not respond to questions about their authentications as you can find here in post #20.
http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...=157842&page=2

From a company that makes this statement on their web site:
"When it comes to collectibles, a seller's reputation is of paramount importance. Those with the best reputations have their collectibles graded and/or authenticated by PSA. If you are known as a seller who does not, your credibility may suffer. Buyers will ask questions and speculate as to your reasons why"

It's interesting that potential buyers of a Rocky Marciano signed item authenticated by you, PSA/DNA, and estimated at $25,000 are now asking you questions yet you are silent and nowhere to be found. And yes, we are now speculating as to your reasons why?

By the way, this Robert Fitzsimmons autograph was authenticated by PSA/DNA and sold through an auction site that is owned by someone listed as an authenticator on their web site. Hammer price $1789.76 Conflict of interest? Favortism?

A PSA/DNA wife signed Robert Fitzsimmons?

Or a real Robert Fitzsimmons autograph?

Bureau of Consumer Protection, FBI take note.

par for the course for that company.

they had a hundred fitzsimmons they could use as an exemplar for their autograph facts and they choose a wife signed fitzsimmons.

they say in the description that fitzsimmons autograph is very rare.

i guess it is so rare they can't find a real example of one.

but in their eyes the one they posted was real. this is in the exemplar files, folks. scary to think about it. the wife signed ones get passed and the ones that look spot on get dumped and the regular guy just minding his own business and doesnt want to be interefered with over this non-expert nonsense regarding abc and xyz coa's gets sued.

what a world.

Just noticed PSA/DNA made a comment under the non-authentic Robert Fitzsimmons exemplar they have posted on their web site:

http://www.psaautographfacts.com/Aut...ob-fitzsimmons

"He typically signed his full name, "Robert Fitzsimmons," and would occasionally shorten his first name to "Robt.""

Disregard this comment as I've never seen an authentic example of Fitzsimmons shortening his first name to Robt. There are manager signed examples of this but nothing actually signed by Fitzsimmons himself that way. If anyone has an authentic signed Robt. Fitzsimmons please feel free to post.

Also noticed the Joe Louis autograph on this page is very doubtful also:

http://www.psaautographfacts.com/Aut...l/67/joe-louis

I'm not even sure what era of Louis' signature is being mimmicked here (below left). I would assume late 1930's?

Also in regards to their comment on the Joe Frazier page:

http://www.psaautographfacts.com/Aut...62/joe-frazier

"A gracious signer throughout much of his life, Frazier's signature has remained relatively the same since the 1960s. It appears as a large "J" with the "oe" of his first name in the loop of his "J" followed by his last name."

Another misleading comment. Joe Frazier's signature isn't relatively the same as the 1960s and in fact he did not place the "oe" of his first name inside the loop of the "J" as in the authentic 1960s examples below. He placed the "oe" as one would do normally, to the right of the "J".

Authenticate: to prove or serve to prove the authenticity of <authenticate a document>

For a company that makes the claim on their web site "world's leading autograph experts" according to the definition above I can honestly say that I've never seen PSA/DNA authenticate an autograph, ever. That don't prove or serve to prove anything, they instead issue a non-evidence based letter with vague and unsubstantiated comments.

As always, PSA/DNA you are still invited to participate.
