Default Seattle Baseball

I've been hired to write/edit a coffee table book concerning the history of baseball in Seattle, and am in the process of looking for images. This will be mostly photographs, but selected visually interesting memorabilia (trading cards, programs, uniforms, etc) likely will also be included. The book covers all facets of baseball in Seattle, including Pacific Coast League, Mariners, Pilots, Fred Hutchinson, Huskies, women, kids playing in the back yard. It is possible, depending on the material available, that near-Seattle baseball will also be included. The images will be chosen mostly due to the visual appeal (it's a coffee table book for eye-candy purposes, after all)-- meaning I'd prefer a stunning picture of some nobody than an ugly picture of Ken Griffy.

At this time, I don't need large images but communication from those who have item(s) of interest or can offer leads. Ultimately, the images needed for publication will have to be of super quality so, as neccesary, acquiring large images will be done down the road. If you are in the Seattle area, I would prefer to visit in person and take the photos myself. At the least, contributers will get specific mention in the book. Other neccesary conditions from the image owner can be discussed with me privately.

My email is iinked above,

Thanks
David

I should rephrase: I haven't been hired, but asked to write/edit the book, and am looking into the availablity of quality material in order to judge the viability of the endever. I know for a fact that enough quality material exists, but am looking to see how practical it is to obtain.

Unfortunately University Trading Cards in Seattle is no more.... at least for the near future. The owner has closed up the shop and is heading out of town for a number of months, and it is unclear if, when and where the store will (or will not) resurface.

There is a guy who has a collection of baseball in Seattle material- they regularly display part of it when the Mariners have their annual fan fare's in February or whenever. You might contact the Mariners front office and they might be able to put you in contact with the guy.

For the record, I decided against doing the book, in part because I'm not the right person for the job. I'm sure there are a number of people who read this board who know more about Seattle baseball than I. And more important (as knowing nothing about a subject has never stopped me from writing a book about it before), I'm saturated with baseball as a subject.
