Default Mickey Mantle Bat

In the "You can only give advice, you can't make people take it" department,
I was at an auction this morning where several pieces of memorabilia were available including a Mickey Mantle autographed, K-55 Louisville Slugger. Signed Mickey Mantle, 18 WS HRs, 1956 Triple Crown. Comes with a full certification from the immortal Christopher Morales. I was talking to several people who expressed interest in it. Explained that, in my opinion, a Morales COA is worse than no COA, and why. Maybe these folks thought that I was trying to talk them out of it because I was going after it. Two guys said that they were going up to $2000 on it. One insisted that if it was fake it would just be the signature without the added notations. Whatever. I tried. This looked like a fairly nice collection but after seeing the one piece, I figured they were probably all Coach's Corner specials and left.

Forgers do not do inscriptions this autograph business gets easier all the time. What a silly thought!

Back in the day when I started purchasing autographs, "most of the time" a forger would not put an inscription because it was just extra work that had to look correct. Also, a forger would not take the time to forge an autograph of a "common" player even if it was a Hof'er because it wasn't worth the time and effort for the monetary return. That is not the case anymore.
