Default What are the current *tough*/Pricey commons T206

My general guideline or desire is to try and acquire cards in a $20-50 price range with a Good or better grade.

I've noticed that there are quite a few commons that appear to be trending/getting tougher.

TITUS/ITUS is more or less over. Pattee and Pelty appear to have simmered a bit as well.

So without further needs to elaborate, in your opinion what are the current tough/pricey commons? And no I'm not talking about the ones we all know about!

Some that I've been having trouble acquiring in my desired grade and price range leading to this discussion:

Bull Durham (dammit this guy pitched in 9 games! who cares about the movie!!)
Orval Overall (Hands at face)
Orval Overall (Hands at waist)
Puttman Ambrose (????? not sure why)
Rube Dessau

just to name a few!

Obviously Dahlen, Joe Doyle, and Magee portrait.

Mix of pricier/tougher I would say:
Dummy Taylor
Johnny Kling
Tommy Leach, portrait
Fred Merkle, especially the portrait
Mike Powers
Ed Reulbach with glove
Wildfire Schulte front view
Red Ames, hands at chest

Obviously the 150 only club gets a premium. Others like Dummy, Kling, and Merkle have their fanclubs.....

Fred Tenney (there’s a relative of his that buys them up)
Doc Adkins
Frank Smith Chicago & Boston variation
Sherry Magee portrait (still premium w/o error)
Ginger Beaumont
Doc White portrait
Mike Donlin
Bill Burns (Black Sox)
Any Cubs player (a lot of Cubs collectors collecting the glory years)
Any 150 only series player

Donlin fielding is tough, especially in VG condition.

Some of the portraits from the 150-350 series seem to be short-printed to some extent, and they always get a nice premium, especially in VG or better. Turner, Kling, Overall, and Lobert come to mind.

Some of the cards mentioned just get a premium because the player is more sought after than your run of the mill common. Guys like Merkle, Overall, Kling, Dahlen, Elberfield, Donlin, Magee are all stars of the set even though they aren't HOFers.

^^^^^^^^

Late to game, but basically what has been said above.

Always thought Powers was extra tough, but not recently.

Puttman still is a quandary.

Also, sometimes, cards just have spike for some reason or another, like both Snodgrass' a few years ago.

............... well that didn't add much.

Lol just wondering about the current. Most of these I did know. And up till a year ago I always though Powers was real tough but then I caught a real good one for about $50 SGC55

Most of the others that have been mentioned I actually got awhile ago which I guess is good!

Still a few that I need to tackle though!

Magee portraits up 50% from same time last year in comparable grade. Elberfeld New York becoming very pricey also up 30% y/y. I agree with the Lobert and Kling and to a lesser extent Overall. I wouldn't sell any of the ones mentioned just accumulate.
