A T206 Wagner for $125, and it's not Honus. Guess that Topps holder really increases value.

OK, I've been out of the hobby way to long, what do they mean by "buyback card"?

Topps bought thousands of original T206 cards to use for these inserts. For some reason they are being called "buyback" cards.

It makes no sense since Topps didn't make the original T206 cards so what are they really "buying back".

I guess it sounds like Topps is doing collectors a favor by "buying" them "back" for them.

Some favor. You can get them on ebay by the dozen on any given day.

Hey, now it is up over $200. Anybody out there want to buy my T206 VG commons for $200 a pop?

C'mon, I'm holding my breath waiting for the offers.

Didn't think so.

The really scary thing about that $200 bid is that the high bidder is a dealer. Anyone want to start a pool on how long he stays in business?

Jay

Is there some sort of seal around the holder, or could you just put any old card you wanted in a Topps 2002 holder?

I haven't bought a pack of Topps 206, but I think it's a neat idea to insert geuine T206 cards (and T205s and T207s) into packs. Buying and opening packs should be about having fun, and I bet a lot of kids and kids at heart find it a cool experience pulling a 90 year old card, even if it is only a Heinie. I'm sure many kids are being exposed in a positive way to Pre-War cards, probably taking a look at eBay's 'Pre-1950' section for the first time. I can't beleive that you-know-who seized the moment and issued that darned book.

At least a few T207s have been pulled from the Topps packs, though labelled as T206s. I assume the grades on these are in the Good to Very Good range.

There is no frigging way Topps is going to be able to find VG or better condition examples of at least 25-30 cards in the T207 set unless Scott Brockelman decides to sell his cards to them and starts collecting comics or something.

David, what I meant was there are about 30 particular cards in the set which they are most likely going to be unable to find, to buy, because of their scarcity.
