How come some sellers of vintage cards on ebay absolutely refuse to answer inquiries about their cards, thereby losing money and potential buyers? There is a guy who sells a lot of pre-war cards who has the personality of a brick and the online etiquette of Hussein. You wonder if the guy has any clue what he is doing. I guess he doesn't care. Example- he recently ran a T207 card with the wrong picture and I emailed him to make sure I was bidding on the name in the description not the picture. No reply. I guess it doesn't matter that I have bought several hundreds of dollars of cards from him, his time must be too valuable. I wish I hadn't driven the price up some on the card while waiting for the response (which never came). Some people. Sorry for the rant.

I will say that I have met/dealt with some very nice, friendly people in this hobby that I'm always glad to deal with time and time again but for the most part...

MY experience has been that most Baseball Card dealers aren't going to win any Mr./Mrs. Congeniality contests. To a collector the hobby is fun and we can't understand why others aren't just as blissful as we are. Truthfully, most dealers are in it for the money and look at it as a business. No problem. As has been noted previously on this board, those that spend big $$$ seem to have better experiences with certain dealers then others. Is anyone surprised? Ebay is a whole new ball game as sellers don't need to know a darn thing about selling but I too have run into the same situation as tbob and you would THINK these people could have a little common sense and realize you catch more flies with sugar then with vinegar.

My favorite experience happened to me at a show long ago when I was looking for a Nolan Ryan rookie. One guy had one but wouldn't give me the time of day and I'm standing right in front of him at his table. His wife is nudging him but his cell phone call was just too important. Fine. . . I went over the next table and bought on for $500. Before handing over the money I waved the 5 $100 bills in the other guys face. It felt good walking away listening to his wife rip him a new (well, you know).

It's amazing how many kind of sellers can be found on eBay.
I usually request closer scans, and the most nice sellers are the ones that run small price items.

Most big time "power sellers" need to learn how to do biz and treat people.

Without getting nasty, I've always wondered how those people survive in life.

I have not received a card and can't find in my records how I paid for it. I get no response to emails, so what do I do? I guess sit around and wait for negative feedback.
